Community Spotlight: Marcus Haselbauer
Meet Marcus Haselbauer, the 30 year old student living and working in Tokyo. He recently celebrated his 1 year anniversary at ACROSS FITNESS. We caught up with Marcus the other day to ask him a few questions about his journey so far.
How long have you been doing CrossFit? 2 Years
What made you decide to start? I am a former handball player, and this sport has been a part of my life for over 25 years so I am used to work out and being in a competitive environment. I had always been interested in CrossFit but never found the time to try it. Once I finally started, I fell in love with it immediately, and now I am completely hooked!
What are your fitness goals or objectives? Always staying fit, have an athletic body and being this super fit old guy in the box when I am in my 80's!
What is the most enjoyable thing about doing CrossFit? This answer might be a little bit weird but I think it is the fact that you will never be "good" at CrossFit. This sport is so versatile, there is always something that you can improve. Learning new movements, getting stronger and faster in Workouts or working on details to move more smoothly. Every time you step into the box, you have the opportunity to challenge yourself, and I love that feeling.
What do you love about the ACROSS FITNESS box & community? The positive energy is incredible. Everyone is smiling, and the mood is always good. I look forward to every single training day because I know there will be someone who is happy to see me.
Have you noticed any changes in your daily life since you joined the ACROSS FITNESS box? Since I usually work out in the morning, I feel much more awake and have a higher energy level throughout the day!
What advice would you give to someone who is thinking about starting CrossFit? To feel it you have to experience it! Yes, CrossFit can seem challenging and exhausting, but one of the most beautiful aspects is that you suffer alongside others, sharing the same pain. I promise you, after every workout, you'll feel a sense of pride and happiness for what you've accomplished.
