Athlete Spotlight: Bryan
Everyone say hello to Bryan (aka Kratos for those that enjoy gaming). He's been training with us now for more than 4 months after being introduced by fellow member Gerhard. This year, for his 40th he wanted to lose 40lbs and decided CrossFit was the way to do it. Upon entering Heart & Beauty he loved the energy and vibe in the box enough to sign up there and then. Even after the Covid lockdown happened he's been staying on course and getting the workouts in wherever he can. As a newbie to Tokyo himself he recommends just getting out there and seeing what the place has on offer! Sometimes getting lost ends up being the best way to find something amazing here.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
How did you hear about us and what made you decide to start?
I was introduced to another member, Gerhard Farsol, by one of my best friends in San Francisco. Gerhard was so enthusiastic about the program, I decided to check it out. I had also decided that I wanted to lose 40lbs (18Kgs) by my 40th birthday. When I first came to the box, there was just this positivity and feeling of community that I personally really missed from working out with friends back in San Francisco, so I decided to sign up.
What has been your most memorable CrossFit moment?
Right after I joined, the lockdown from Corona happened, but the Nic made himself accessible and coached me on workout sessions, eating clean food, and kept me motivated. The box also shared WoDs on IG that kept things fresh. During the lockdown I dropped nearly 22lbs (10Kgs) more than half my weight goal for the entire year. I'm currently at -30lbs (-13Kgs), and am excited to see how my health, strength, and endurance will continue to improve by the time I hit 40
People you look up to and why?
I try to find people in my circle to look up to. I admire people that can bring the fire to whatever they are passionate about and be successful. There is nothing more inspirational for me than people getting after it, and I try to learn from my friends and connections that push things forward.
Favorite workout in CrossFit?
All of them so far. I am still learning so much, and each new workout is chance to push myself
What advice do you have for someone just getting started with CrossFit?
Be consistent, give your personal maximum effort, and ask for help and advice. You'll amaze yourself with your results if you follow those three points.
Favorite thing to do in Tokyo?
Explore. I'm relatively new to Tokyo, and there's still so much to do, see, and find out.
